These Terms of Service ("Terms") are a binding agreement between you and the Centro Cultural Costarricense-Norteamericano (CCCN) regarding your registration for and participation in the National Conference for Teachers of English (NCTE 2026). Please read them together with our Privacy Policy and Code of Conduct.
Clause 1 Acceptance of terms
By registering for NCTE 2026 or using this website, you confirm that you have read, understood and accepted these Terms, the Privacy Policy and the Code of Conduct. If you do not agree, please do not register or use the site.
Clause 2 Eligibility
NCTE 2026 is a professional event for English-language teachers and ELT professionals. You must be at least 18 years old to create an account and register. Institutions may register their staff, provided each attendee has an individual account with accurate personal data.
Clause 3 Account registration
You agree to provide accurate, current and complete information and to keep it up to date. One account corresponds to one person. You are responsible for safeguarding your credentials and for all activity under your account. Providing false information or impersonating another person may result in cancellation without refund.
Clause 4 The boarding pass and ticket code
On registration you receive a personal boarding pass with a unique ticket code (format NCTE-XXXXXX) encoded as a QR. The boarding pass is personal and non-transferable. You may re-print or re-download it. Sharing your code with a third party, or attempting to use a code that is not yours, invalidates entry and may lead to denial of access.
Clause 5 Conference attendance and scheduling
Day 1 takes place in person at CCCN Los Yoses; Day 2 is virtual. Concurrent in-person sessions have limited capacity and are allocated on a first-come, first-served basis through the planner. You may change your seat reservations until the published deadline (midnight Costa Rica time before Day 1); after that, the schedule is locked. CCCN may adjust the program, speakers, rooms or timings when reasonably necessary and will communicate material changes.
Clause 6 Pricing, payments and refunds
Where a registration fee applies, the price, accepted payment methods and any refund window are those stated at the point of registration. Unless stated otherwise, requests for refunds must be sent to ncte@centrocultural.cr within the published window. Taxes apply as required by Costa Rican law.
Clause 7 Cancellations and substitutions
You may cancel your participation by contacting us. Whether a substitution (another person taking your place) is permitted, and any applicable deadline, will be handled case by case by the coordination team and is subject to capacity.
Clause 8 Force majeure
CCCN is not liable for failure or delay caused by events beyond its reasonable control (including natural events, health emergencies, strikes, utility or connectivity failures, or acts of authority). In such cases CCCN may postpone the event, move it fully virtual, or make equivalent adjustments, while preserving the core value of your registration where reasonably possible.
Clause 9 Recordings and intellectual property
Plenaries and webinars may be recorded by CCCN. Conference materials, the website, branding and content are the property of CCCN or its licensors; speaker materials remain the property of their authors. You may not copy, redistribute or commercially exploit conference content without prior written permission.
Clause 10 Photography and use of image
Photographs and video may be taken during in-person activities for documentation and promotion of the conference. If you do not wish to appear, please notify staff on site or write to ncte@centrocultural.cr, and we will make reasonable efforts to honor your request.
Clause 11 Acceptable use of the website
You agree not to attempt to gain unauthorized access to the site, its accounts or its data; not to disrupt or probe the service or its security; not to scrape or harvest other attendees' data; and not to misuse the boarding-pass or check-in systems. We may suspend access to protect the service and other users.
Clause 12 Limitation of liability
To the extent permitted by Costa Rican law, CCCN is not liable for indirect or consequential damages, or for loss of personal items at the venue. Nothing in these Terms limits liability that cannot be limited by law.
Clause 13 Indemnification
You agree to be responsible for any harm you cause to other attendees, to speakers, to staff or to the venue through your conduct, and to comply with venue rules and staff instructions.
Clause 14 Suspension and termination
CCCN may revoke a boarding pass or remove a participant — without refund — for serious or repeated breaches of these Terms or of the Code of Conduct, or where required to protect the safety of the event.
Clause 15 Modifications to these terms
We may update these Terms; the current version is always the one posted here with its "Last updated" date. Material changes will be communicated by reasonable means. Attendees who already registered keep the terms in force at the time of registration for matters essential to their participation, except where a change is required by law.
Clause 16 Governing law and jurisdiction
These Terms are governed by the laws of the Republic of Costa Rica. Any dispute will be subject to the competent courts of San José, Costa Rica, without prejudice to any mandatory consumer-protection rights.
