Section 1 Our pledge
CCCN is committed to providing a harassment-free, respectful conference experience for everyone, regardless of gender, gender identity and expression, sexual orientation, disability, neurodivergence, physical appearance, age, nationality, race, ethnicity, religion or its absence. We expect all participants to help create a welcoming and professional environment.
Section 2 Where this code applies
This code applies in all conference spaces and side-events: the CCCN Los Yoses venue on Day 1, the virtual webinar rooms on Day 2, the conference website and planner, official chat or networking channels, and any official social activity associated with NCTE 2026.

- Take responsibility for your impact, and apologize if you cause harm.
- Follow venue rules and the instructions of CCCN staff.
Section 4 Unacceptable behavior

Section 5 Reporting an incident
If you experience or witness unacceptable behavior, please report it as soon as you safely can:
- On site: approach any CCCN staff member (identified lanyard) at the venue.
- By email: ncte@centrocultural.cr.
- Emergencies: contact local emergency services (911 in Costa Rica) and then notify staff.
What to include in a report

Section 6 Confidentiality
Reports are handled discreetly. We will not share the identity of the reporting party beyond the people who need to know to respond, except where disclosure is required by law or to protect someone's safety.
Section 7 Enforcement
CCCN may take any action it considers appropriate and proportionate, including: a verbal warning, a request to stop a behavior, removal from a session, removal from the conference without refund, and a ban from future editions. Decisions are made by the conference coordination team. Serious matters may be referred to the competent authorities.
Section 8 No retaliation
Retaliation against anyone who reports a concern in good faith, or who participates in a review, is itself a violation of this code and will be treated accordingly.
Section 9 Acknowledgements
This code reflects CCCN's institutional values and draws on widely adopted academic- and professional-conference codes of conduct.
